ABSTRACT IDEAS IN SCIENCE

This is the opening chapter for video that supports teaching and learning in science. It features teachers and learners involved in the ‘Teaching and learning change programme’, and was produced for the Standards Unit.

BUILDING ON LEARNERS’ UNDERSTANDING OF ALGEBRA

This is a short sequence taken from a video produced for the ‘Maths Pipeline Project’. It features students resiting their GCSE mathematics.

This is the first of a series of videos providing information on student services at West Thames College, London.

SELF AND PEER ASSESSMENT

Bowland Maths aims to make mathematics engaging and relevant to pupils aged 11-14, with a focus on developing thinking, reasoning and problem-solving skills.

Their online resource contains a series of videos that support teachers in using the Bowland Maths materials. Here is an excerpt from one of those videos and focuses on ‘Self and Peer Assessment’.

This video is taken from the Standards Unit resource, ‘Improving learning in mathematics’. It features teachers and learners using activities designed by Professor Malcolm Swan, University of Nottingham, and Susan Wall, Wilberforce College, Hull.

Here, Malcolm Swan talks about misconceptions in mathematics.

LAUNCH OF A BUSINESS INNOVATION SERVICE

South Devon College launched an innovation service called ‘Business Advantage’. The event was attended by local businesses and college staff. It was an opportunity to inform local businesses of the college’s new business facing service.
